Milk for production is collected from three
villages: Yeghegis, Hermon, and Goghtanik. Monthly
the plant processes 25 tonnes milk.

In October 2000 Golden Goat Plus LLC produced
1 ton of buried goat cheese. Almost
700 kg was sold and the remainder was kept for shelf life
testing. The annual production of Golden Goat Plus in 2001 was
3.5 tonnes of cheese.

This year the company
started a production
of new two cheese
varieties: Alpine Goat Cheese in oil and Dzor cheeses,
Tom cheese with white mold, and a test batch of Lactic type
cheese.

The Russian Brinzprom Company imported 4 tonnes
of Yeghegnadzor cheese as a test batch in 2001, which
was successfully marketed in the best supermarkets of Moscow.
Company’s export to Moscow for 2002 was: 3,200 kg of Dzor
cheese, 1,800 kg of Yeghegnadzor cheese in clay pots, and
3,000 jars of Alpine Goat Cheese.

Golden Goat has various plans for the future including
building of a new farm facility for 300-400 goats and
underground cellar. The building is already purchased, which
is 300 meters from the center of
Goghtanik Village. The building is located on a scenic
mountain with rich vegetation.

The Cooperative and Golden Goat Plus LLC
were established through the support of USDA
Marketing Assistance Project. Due to the assistance goat
breeding and production of goat cheese in Vayots Dzor Region
was established, export opportunities have been created, and a
decrease in emigration level from the region has been
registered. USDA
MAP has donated Golden Goat Plus milk cooling systems, which
assure the high quality and sanitary conditions of the
production. Also MAP donated 3 milk collection containers that
are installed in each of the milk providing villages.

MAP also supported to presence
of the products in the First
International Exhibition ArmprodExpo 2001 in Yerevan, Armenia
and in 10 Years of CIS International Exhibition in Moscow,
Russia. Golden Goat cheeses have been tasted at ProdExpo 2002
in Moscow, InterFood 2002 in St. Petersburg, World Food 2002
in Moscow, ArmprodExpo 2002 in Yerevan, Riga Food 2002, and
Made in Armenia 2002 in Glendale.
