Jermuk, on the Arpa river, 2080 m elevation. Named for the hot springs (up to 65° C), source of the famous fizzy water. There is a picturesque waterfall, interesting walks, a rock formation in the shape of Vardan Mamikonian, caves and the possibility of a cure  of  most  human ailments at one of the many sanatoriums.     A     rich     village     in

   Two right turns (S) at or just after  the main turnoff for Gndevaz and Jermuk leads to Artavan, with 18th c. bridge, cemetery (khachkars of the 10-15th c.), probably a fief of Tatev.
