  •    Areni CJSC is located in Areni Village, Vayots  Dzor  Region,  on  the  left side of Yerevan-Meghri highway. People call it Areni Village Winery. The director of the winery is Rafik Simonyan.

  •    Areni CJSC was established in 1994 with an initial investment of $5. 000. Activities were initiated by 12 people with the reconstruction of the former tobacco storage into a winery. Significant changes took place in the management, and currently, three brothers own the winery. The company employs 12 permanent and 6 seasonal employees.

  •    In 1994, the company produced first wine through processing 25 tons of grapes. In the beginning, the winery had to barter the wine in bulk. Due to the collaboration with USDA Marketing Assistance Project (MAP), the winery started bottling and labeling of the wine.

  •    The company aspires to recover the traditional  methods  of  Areni  wine production in the region and to develop new wine production methods.

  •    Depending   on   the   harvest   period   and   grape  variety,  Areni winery produces nine brands of semidry and dry wines. Different variations of Vayots Dzor and Areni wines compose the main assortment of the company. Areni CJSC also produced pink wine, which was shipped to Beirut in 2000.

  •    The company uses Areni  and  Kakhet  grape  varieties  supplied  by  the farmers of Areni, Aghavnadzor, and Rind Villages. After the grape processing, grape seeds are used for feed and the skins for homemade vodka.

  •    Wine   production   starts  in  the  field  with  the  selection of high quality grapes. As soon as the grapes are delivered to the winery they are crushed and skimmed in the fermentation basin. After the fermentation cycle is completed, the sediment is separated and the rest of the mass is pressed for the secondary sediment. Afterwards, the wine is kept for one year. It is aged for three years in oak barrels and then it is bottled and labeled. Aging continues in the bottles if necessary.

  •    The final product is packed in cardboard boxes, plastic  shrink-wrapped boxes (12 pc) and souvenir packs (2 pc).

  •    Wines are stored in cellars at 14-20° C.

  •    The annual production  is  100-120  thousand  bottles  with  the  sales  of 50-60 thousand bottles.

  •    Areni   wines   are   promoted   through   brochures, calendars,  souvenir packs, and the Internet.
